Chinese Municipality to Hold Motorcycle Expo

A top level motorcycle exhibition will be held on April 25-29 in southwest China's mountain municipality of Chongqing, local sources announced Monday.

A top level motorcycle exhibition will be held on April 25-29 in southwest China's mountain municipality of Chongqing, local sources announced Monday.

The first Chongqing International Motorcycle Expo is jointly organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the China Export-Import Chamber of Commerce for Electrical and Mechanical Products and the Chongqing Municipal Government.

Organizers say that various types of motorcycles, electrically powered bicycles, motorcycle garb and parts will be shown at the exhibition.

Domestic and foreign motorcycle experts have also been invited to discuss issues such as the development of China's motorcycle industry following China's accession into the World Trade Organization.

CCPIT official Liu Shuzhen says it is expected that the event will become well-known in the world's motorcycle industry and will help improve the quality of domestically made motorcycles.

About four million motorcycles are manufactured annually in Chongqing, 1.66 million of which are exported, which amounts to over half of the national motorcycle exports.
