China Cooperates with Russia, Belarus and Ukraine in Science,Technology

Construction has begun on four cooperative projects in the China-Russia High-tech Industries Pilot Base located in Yantai City in east China's Shandong province.

Construction has begun on four cooperative projects in the China-Russia High-tech Industries Pilot Base located in Yantai City in east China's Shandong province.

Companies from the two countries have also reached agreements on another 11 research and development programs, said Dong Zhaohe,director of the provincial science and technology bureau.

Meanwhile, the China-Belarus High-tech Zone has approved 37 cooperative programs and the two sides have reported marked technical progress in seabed ultrasonic detection, research and development of biological pesticides and laser ranging, Dong said.

The China-Ukraine High-tech Zone is expected to become operational very soon, Dong said, adding that Ukraine has put forward over 400 programs for cooperation with Shandong.

Shandong is also to invite a group of foreign experts serving as scientific and technological advisors for the provincial government. The province will establish a special committee which will guide and promote cooperation with these countries.
