Xu Kuangdi Elected President of Chinese Academy of Engineering

Xu Kuangdi, former mayor of Shanghai, has been elected president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).

Xu Kuangdi, former mayor of Shanghai, has been elected president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).

The CAE announced the names of the newly elected president, vice presidents and other high-ranking officials in Beijing on Thursday at the sixth academician conference held biyearly by the CAE.

Wang Dianzuo, Wu Hequan, Liu Depei, Du Xiangwan, and Shen Guofang were elected vice presidents of the CAE.

Wang Yongzhi was appointed director general of the academic committee on mechanical and transport engineering. Lu Jianxun is in charge of the academic committee on information and electronic engineering, Zhou Lian in Chemistry, metallurgy and material engineering, Zhu Jianshi in energy and mining engineering, Chen Zhaoyuan in construction, water conservancy, and civil engineering,Xu Rigan in agricultural, textile and environmental engineering, Wang Zhengguo in medical and hygiene engineering, and Yin Ruiyu inengineering management.

The CAE now has 623 member academicians.
