Int'l Environmental Protection Forum Opens in Guilin
An international environmental protection forum opened Sunday in Guilin, a tourist city in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Environmental protection officials and experts from China, Britain, France, the United Sates, Australia and other countries debated on urban sustainable development and other issues.
Qu Geping, head of the National People's Congress subcommittee on environment and resources, delivered a speech on China's environmental protection achievements.
He noted particularly the rising public awareness of environmental issues.
The forum is jointly sponsored by the China Environmental Protection Foundation and the municipal government of Guilin.
