Japanese police on Saturday rescued a 6-year-old Chinese boy, who had been kidnapped Thursday near his home in Tokyo's Adachi Ward and held for a 15 million yen ransom, and arrested six kidnappers.

According to Japan's Kyodo News, police officers found the boy,He Risheng, at about 4 a.m. (local time) inside a condominium in Yokohama and arrested one man and three women who were holding the boy on suspicion of kidnapping.

The four suspects include Wang Wengqin, 30, from Fujian Province of China. Information concerning the three female suspects has not yet been released.

The police said the boy was unharmed and sleeping when he was rescued.

The police received information on the location of the kidnappers from two men they found at 3:10 a.m. (local time) inside Yokohama's Yamashita Park, the designated place for the ransom delivery.

The two men, Chen Xiaofeng, a 24-year-old resident of Kobe's Nada Ward, and Chen Caixing, 23, with an unfixed address, were also arrested on the spot.

According to the National Police Agency (NPA), this is the 251st kidnapping case in Japan after World War II, and the 113th case involving a child aged 12 or younger.

The number of kidnappings has been rising recently and foreigners in the country have often been targeted by kidnappers. In 2001 four victims of 10 kidnapping cases were foreigners, the NPA said.
