Chinese President Visits Sochi after SCO Summit

Chinese President Jiang Zemin arrived here Saturday afternoon on a weekend visit to this Black Sea city in southern Russia, after attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in St. Petersburg on Friday.

Chinese President Jiang Zemin arrived here Saturday afternoon on a weekend visit to this Black Sea city in southern Russia, after attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in St. Petersburg on Friday.

Upon his arrival, Jiang was greeted at the airport by local officials.

In St Petersburg, the presidents from the six member nations of the SCO, namely China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, held their second summit meeting and adopted a SCO charter, which, the leaders said, constituted a firmlegal basis for the future development of the SCO.

The SCO leaders also decided to set up a regional anti-terrorism agency to coordinate actions against terrorism by the member countries.
