Guatemalan sanitary authorities declared on Wednesday a state of yellow alert throughout the whole country against new dengue fever outbreaks.
The yellow alert involves all health-care centers around the country, which have to keep watch over new dengue fever cases and prevent mass contamination, said reports reaching here from Guatemala City.
Guatemalan Vice Health Minister Julio Molina said it was necessary to alert every hospital and health-care center in face of new outbreaks.
Molina also called on Guatemalans to do everything to clean their houses in order to prevent the breeding of the dengue-carrying mosquito, reports said.
According to Guatemala's Health Ministry, 789 cases of dengue fever have been registered in the country in the first five monthsof the year.
