Chinese President Meets With Macao Chief Executive

Chinese President Jiang Zemin met with Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Monday in Hong Kong.

Chinese President Jiang Zemin met with Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Monday in Hong Kong.

Jiang and Ho are in Hong Kong attending the celebrations of the fifth anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China and the inaugural ceremony of the second-term Hong Kong SAR government.

Jiang said the successful implementation of "one country, two systems" in Hong Kong and Macao fully demonstrates the great vitality of this scientific concept.

He wished the Macao SAR government led by Ho will extend efforts to make greater contributions to maintaining the prosperity and stability of Macao.

Ho briefed Jiang on the latest development in Macao.

Chinese Vice-Premier Qian Qichen and Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa were present at the meeting.
