President Jiang Urges Mainland Bodies in HK to Do Better Job
Chinese President Jiang Zemin Monday praised the central government institutions and mainland-funded enterprises in Hong Kong for abiding by policies of the central government and making contributions to Hong Kong's social stability and economic development.

He made the remarks at a meeting with heads of those institutions and enterprises before leaving for Beijing.
During the meeting, the president also urged the institutions and enterprises to perform their duties earnestly, to take the lead in abiding by the Basic Law and to uphold the rule of law in Hong Kong in order to do every job well.
Jiang was here to attend the celebrations marking the fifth anniversary of Hong Kong's handover to the motherland and swearing-in ceremony of the second-term HKSAR government.
Present at the meeting were Vice-Premier Qian Qichen and the HKSAR Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa.
