South Korean President Kim Dae-jung's second son Kim Hong-up Wednesday was prosecuted on charges of bribery, tax evasion and violation of the Attorneys-at-Law Act, said the investigators of the lawsuit.

Kim Hong-up was found to have received about 4.8 billion won (3.7 million US dollars) from nine corporations, among which 2.6 billion won (2.0 million dollars) was given in bribes, said the central investigation department of the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office, according to a report of the national news agency YonhapNews.

The rest of the money which Kim received was "monetary gifts" of no specific favors, but he still faces punishment for not reporting this income to tax authorities, prosecutors said.

Besides, Kim was also found to have tried to influence officials at the National Tax Service and the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund.

Kim Hong-up, along with his younger brother Kim Hong-gul, were respectively arrested in June and May for involvement in massive scandals, which undermined the reputation of their father President Kim Dae-jung's government.
