The publication agriculture-related duty and price standards protects farmers' interests, said Wang Yang, vice minister in charge of the State Development Planning Commission, Thursday.

At a national conference in Hunan Province, central China, Wang said the system should cover larger areas, with more agriculture-related price and fee boards to be set up in public places for villagers.

The system, which makes fee collection procedures in rural areas more transparent, should be carried out in a standardized and pragmatic way, he said.

He highlighted rural people's leading role in supervising priceand duty collections, saying that quick-response mechanisms and supervisory institutions for overcharging inspections should be established.

Local governments at all levels should continue to fight against rural overcharging on education, electricity supply and house building, he said.
