Hosts China drew the United States 5-5 here on Sunday in the third round of their second chess contest. Following were the results of the ten games (US players first):

Men's event:

Alexander Goldin, GM, tied Ye Jiangchuan, GM

Larry Christiansen, GM, lost to Xu Jun, GM

Boris Gulko, GM, tied Zhang Zhong, GM

Gregory Kaidanov, GM, tied Bu Xiangzhi, GM

Joel Benjamin, GM, tied Ni Hua, GM

Alexander Shabalov, GM, tied Xie Jun, GM

Women's event:

Irina Krush, WGM, beat Zhu Chen, GM

Elena Donaldson, WGM, tied Wang Pin, WGM

Junior's event:

Nakamura Hikaru, IM, beat Zhao Jun, NM

Vinay Bhat, IM, lost to Wang Yue, FM

(Note: One point will be awarded for a win, 0.5 for a draw and nil for loss)

The United States still lead 15.5-14.5 over China after three rounds. Altogether there are four rounds of competitions in the two-country chess contest.
