Sudanese President Omar Hassan Amhed el Bashir will arrive in Uganda on Friday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of President Yoweri Museveni, theUgandan State House announced on Wednesday.

According to a press release issued here, during his stay in Uganda, the Sudanese leader will hold talks with the Ugandan president.

This is the first official visit to Uganda by the Sudanese leader since the improvement of the relations between the two neighboring countries.

Relations between Uganda and Sudan have been strained due to charges by both countries that each is supporting the other's rebels and dissidents.

Following a peace accord in Kenya's capital of Nairobi in 1999,both Uganda and the Sudan pledged to stop supporting each other's rebels and exchanged envoys last year, restoring diplomatic relations after a six-year break.

The Sudanese government allowed the Ugandan army to pursue the Lord Resistance Army (LRA) rebels in southern Sudan in March this year.
