China's Biggest Underwater Traffic Tunnel Built in Shanghai

A 1987-meter underwater tunnel, a part of the Mingzhu Line Project linking South Pudong Road and Nanpu Bridge, was built in Shanghai on July 24, being the biggest as well as the longest in China.

A 1987-meter underwater tunnel, a part of the Mingzhu Line Project linking South Pudong Road and Nanpu Bridge, was built in Shanghai on July 24, being the biggest as well as the longest in China.

As reported, the current biggest tunnel put in operation is 1600-meter-long Central Henan Road--Lujiazui section.

The tunnel is nearly 40 meters underground as the deepest in China.
