Chinese Communist Party Greets Namibia's SWAPO Party on Congress
The Communist Party of China (CPC) on Wednesday congratulated the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO), Namibia's ruling party, on the convocation of its third congress on August 21-26 in the Namibian capital of Windhoek.

"On the occasion of the grand opening of the Third Congress of the SWAPO party, on behalf of the Communist Party of China and itsentire membership, we wish to extend our warm congratulations to the Congress and, through the Congress, to the entire membership of the SWAPO party," said a congratulatory message from the CPC Central Committee.
Since its founding, the SWAPO has made historic contributions to the independence and freedom of the nation, and to the realization of the democratic rights of the people, said the message.
After the independence of Namibia in 1990, SWAPO, by upholding the principles of democracy, social justice and progress, has brought together the Namibian people of all ethnic backgrounds andhas guided them in their unremitting efforts in the national construction and development of the country, it said.
"We heartily rejoice at the gratifying achievements you have scored, and we wish you ever more successes on your way forward."
The message said the CPC and the SWAPO enjoy a long-standing friendship.
Over the years, the two parties have sympathized with and supported each other and profound sentiments have been forged between them. The friendly ties of cooperation between the two parties have become an important component of the overall relations between the two countries, it said.
It expressed confidence by the CPC that the existing friendly relations between the two parties will surely be cemented and strengthened in the new century on the basis of principles of independence, complete equality, mutual respect and non-interference in each other's internal affairs.
