Zhu said China has long supported the right cause of the Palestinians, adding China has been closely following the development of the Mideast situation and is worried about the cycleof violence between the Palestinians and Israel.

China hopes that the Palestinians and Israel could respond to international peace efforts, take practical moves and resume peace talks, he added.

Zhu said the international situation has been undergoing profound changes, but peace and development are still main themes of today's world, and multi-polarization and economic globalizationare still moving forward despite twists and turns.

He said a large number of countries are still adopting policies aimed at enhancing dialogue and cooperation, maintaining regional stability and promoting common development.

However, economic globalization has also resulted in the widening of gap between developing countries and developed countries, with some developing countries facing the danger of being marginalized, he added.

Therefore, all countries should work together to ensure that they could be able to vie on an equal footing, engage in mutually beneficial cooperation, peacefully co-exist and seek common prosperity, Zhu stressed.

On the anti-terror issue, Zhu said China firmly opposes all forms of terrorism, and holds that it is imperative to have accurate evidence and eliminate the deep cause of terrorism while cracking down on terrorism, Zhu said.

China also holds that it is essential not to target against certain nationality, religion and region, or adopt double standardsin the anti-terror field, Zhu said, adding China supports international efforts to deal with global challenges, including terrorism.

Algeria is fully prepared to further promote cooperation with China in political, economic, cultural and other areas, he said, adding Algeria regards visits by Chinese leaders to Algeria as China's support for Algeria's domestic and foreign policies.

He also asked Zhu to convey his best regards to Chinese President Jiang Zemin.

China Calls for Sino-Algerian Cooperation in Int'l Affairs
Premier Zhu called for increased Sino-Algerian cooperation in the international arena. .

Zhu said under new international circumstances, it is imperative for the two countries to strengthen consultation, coordination and cooperation in the international affairs to better safeguard the rights and interests of a large number of developing countries.

He said China and Algeria had trusted and supported each other at a time when Algeria fought for national independence several decades ago, adding Sino-Algerian friendship and cooperation have stood the test of time since the two countries forged diplomatic ties nearly half a century ago.

China is grateful for outstanding contributions made by Algeria, especially by President Bouteflika, to the restoration of the legal seat of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations, and also for Algeria's firm support for China on the issues of Taiwan and human rights, Zhu said.

Speaking highly of Algeria's domestic and foreign policies, Zhu said China, as a sincere friend of Algeria, is delighted to see that Algeria has scored achievements in terms of social stability, economic growth and the improvement of the people's living standards in recent years.

Zhu said Algeria is an influential member in Africa, the Arab world and developing countries, pointing to President Bouteflika's statesmanship and his profound contributions to promoting Africa's development and renaissance as well as pushing forward dialogue between developing countries and developed countries and cooperation among developing countries.

China hopes that Algeria, under the leadership of President Bouteflika, will make new progress in the course of its own development, Zhu said.
