Youyiguan, or Friendship Gate, located in south China's Pingxiang City which borders Vietnam, has become China's largest motorcycle exporter.
According to official statistics, Youyiguan saw approximately 1.7 million motorcycles exported in 2001, about 90 percent of China's total motorcycle exports.
"The line of thousands of trucks laden with motorcycles backed up for several kilometers while awaiting customs inspection is a spectacular sight," said a local resident.
The motorcycles, produced primarily in Chongqing, the largest city in western China, were mainly exported to Vietnam and other southeast Asian nations.
Chinese motorcycles have 60 percent of the market share in Vietnam due to their high quality and low price.
Jiang Xiaofeng, director of the Pingxiang Customs, said he expects China's motorcycle exports will continue to climb in the remaining months of this year.
