Motorola Seals US$68 Million China Mobile Deal

Wireless technology giant Motorola Inc. said on Wednesday it has signed contracts worth $68 million with China Mobile (Hong Kong) Ltd. , the world's largest cellular carrier, to expand its networks.

Wireless technology giant Motorola Inc. said on Wednesday it has signed contracts worth $68 million with China Mobile (Hong Kong) Ltd. , the world's largest cellular carrier, to expand its networks.

Motorola plans to upgrade China Mobile's GSM networks in the central and western provinces of Jilin, Liaoning, Jiangxi and Shanxi as well as in the urban centers of Beijing and Tianjin by the first half of 2003, it said in a statement.

The firm also expects to extend China Mobile's GPRS network in southern Zhejiang province and Tianjin.
