Liu Haitao of China Wins Men's Single Kayak 1,000m Title

Liu Haitao of China won the gold medal of men's single kayak at the Asian Games Thursday. The silver medal was taken by Nam Sung-ho of South Korea. Anton Ryahov of Uzbekistan finished third.

Chinese Liu Haitao claimed the first gold medal of canoeing in 2002 Asian Games on Thursday, winning inthe men's single kayak 1,000 meters event.

Liu touched the finish line by three minutes 37.734 second, beating Nam Sung-Ho of South Korea, three minutes 38.758 to the silver medal.

Ryahov Anton of Uzberkistan placed third with three minutes 39.000 second.
