One Million People Died During Civil War in Angola: Report

One million people died, four million others got displaced and the same number of families are separated throughout the country as a result of 27 years of armed conflict in Angola, disclosed "Doctors Without Border", a non-governmental organization.

According to a report titled "Angola, after war the abandonment" released on Thursday in Luanda, war in Angola was one of the longest and most violent in Africa after de-colonization causing a complete disarticulation of the society and the communities.

"Doctors Without Border" calls on the Angolan government and other NGOs to speed up and increase emergency aids with a view to stock food and first need goods at displaced's camps and sheltering areas due to the rainy reason that makes difficult access to those zones.

"Doctors Without Border" has been working in Angola for 19 years.

On April 4 of this year, the Angolan government and the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola signed a peace accord to end 27 years civil war, which broke out in 1975 after the country's independence from Portugal.
