Young Diver Lao Lishi Win Women's 10m Platform

In a showdown between difficulty and smoothness, Chinese young diver Lao Lishi beat compatriot Li Na for the coveted title on the women's 10 meters platform in the Asian Games here on Saturday.

In a showdown between difficulty and smoothness, Chinese young diver Lao Lishi beat compatriot Li Na for the coveted title on the women's 10 meters platform in the Asian Games here on Saturday.

Lao, World Cup winner in Spain this June, led from the second round in the final and collected a winning total of 583.08 points,thanks to her more difficult routines.

Double Olympic silver medalist and Bangkok Asian Games runner-up, Li who topped the morning semifinals, had to settle for a silver in 567.15. Kim Kyoung-ju of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea snatched the bronze medal in 495.75.

China is only one step away to realize their clean sweep pre-meet target by taking seven titles so far.

The men's 10m platform, the last event of the diving competition, is to be decided tomorrow.

China have swept all the gold medals in diving for the last sixAsiads since 1976.
