South Korean President Kim Dae-jung said Wednesday that the current situation created by DPRK's self-confessed nuclear program should be resolved not through "force or economic sanctions" but dialogue.

Talking with five presidential candidates at Chong Wa Dae, Kim said, "The dismantling of the U.S.-DPRK nuclear agreement by applying economic sanctions on Pyongyang will free the North from restrictions on its nuclear program."

The five presidential candidates who were invited to Chong Wa Dae also shared his view for a peaceful resolution of the problem.

President Kim invited all key candidates to Chong Wa Dae for face-to-face discussions before he left for Mexico to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit and hold a separate tripartite meeting with U.S. President George W. Bush and Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.
