About 300 people, including 222 children, have been hospitalized for poisoning in the southern Russian region of Krasnodar, the Itar-tass news agency reported Wednesday.
The first poisoning cases happened on Monday in Kropotkin, and most others happened on Tuesday, with Gulkevichi and Kavkazskaya being added to the affected cities. The victims, with symptoms of high fever and vomiting, were rushed to hospitals, said the report.
Deputy head of Kropotkin's city administration Irina Grevtsova told Itar-tass that the mass poisoning might be caused by dairy products. The city government has closed the local dairy plant.
An inquiry has been launched into the definite cause of the incidents.
