FM Spokesman on Armitage's Upcoming China Visit
US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage will pay a visit to China from Dec. 11, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said in Beijing Tuesday ata regular press conference.
US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage will pay a visit to China from Dec. 11, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said in Beijing Tuesday ata regular press conference.
Chinese leaders and main officials from the Foreign Ministry would hold talks with Armitage during his stay in Beijing, Liu said.
The two sides would discuss bilateral relations and key international and regional issues of common concern.
Liu said that based on the consensus reached by Chinese President Jiang Zemin and US President George W. Bush at their recent meeting in Crawford, China and the United States would enhance exchanges and cooperation on counter-terrorism under the principle of mutual benefit, and hold the third round of counter-terror talks in the near future.
He said departmental delegations from both countries would discuss the international and regional counter-terrorism situationand bilateral counter-terror cooperation.
