A Chinese peacekeeping mission preparing to go to the Democratic Republic of Congo has assembled its equipment and finished training. It is now ready for the trip.

The mission comes under the United Nations, which regularly assigns personnel from different countries to ensure stability in unstable regions.

The team, consisting of 175 engineers and 43 health personnel, is totally equipped with Chinese-made instruments, including advanced communication equipment installed on six command vans.

"I was approved to take part in the peacekeeping operation, and I was so excited last night and I couldn't fall into sleep", said a 19-year-old private. "Now I have much calmed down and I'm thinking how to complete my task better".

Since 1990, China has assigned more than 1,450 personnel to ten regions following UN Security Council authorization, including over 650 military observers. From 1992 to 1993, China sent 800 engineers to Cambodia. Now there are still more than 50 Chinese observers carrying out tasks in six peacekeeping regions. The Chinese forces, together with staff from other countries, have fulfilled their duty successfully.
