The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is fully prepared for any possible United States military attack, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on Tuesday, in an authorized report.

The situation on the Korean Peninsula is deteriorating so rapidly that an armed clash may break out despite the desire of the DPRK to resolve the nuclear crisis in a peaceful way, the report said.

Under the surface of "peaceful settlement" and "multilateral talks", the United States was preparing for a secret attack against the DPRK, including surprise assaults on major DPRK installations, particularly nuclear facilities, it said.

The US aircraft carrier, Kittyhawk, stationed around the Korean Peninsula, proved that the United States is aimed to make an attack on the DPRK behind the curtain of dialogue, it warned.

The Kittyhawk was ordered to pull out of one of the US militarybases in Japan and was stationed near the Korean Peninsula last Thursday, a deployment commonly regarded as a move to monitor the DPRK.

The multi-party talks initiated by the US were nothing but a "smokescreen" to deceive the DPRK and cover the United States' trueattempt to make a surprise attack on the DPRK, the report added.

The United States recently proposed to the DPRK the holding of a "5+5" meeting to end the ongoing nuclear standoff. The meeting would comprise the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, plus the DPRK, South Korea, the European Union, Australia and Japan. The proposal was firmly rejected by Pyongyang.

The DPRK would be forced to take all necessary measures to mount a counter-attack against any possible US military action, the report said.
