Spain Expresses Condolences to US over Columbia Accident

Spanish Prime Minister Jose Aznar sent a telegram to US President George W. Bush on Saturday to express his condolences over the accident of spacecraft Columbia, said official sources.

Spanish Prime Minister Jose Aznar sent a telegram to US President George W. Bush on Saturday to express his condolences over the accident of spacecraft Columbia, said official sources.

The sources said that the telegram was issued on Saturday afternoon from La Moncloa Palace where Aznar learned of the accident.

Space shuttle Columbia with seven astronauts on board disintegrated at the height of 63,000 meters with a speed of 20,000 kilometers per hour, just 16 minutes before landing at Cape Canaveral, Florida, in the southeastern United States.
