Columbia Astronauts Remains Found in Texas

Human remains considered to be from space shuttle Columbia were found in Texas of the United States, the CNN reported on Saturday.

Human remains considered to be from space shuttle Columbia were found in Texas of the United States, the CNN reported on Saturday.

The remains, which were believed to be a charred torso, thigh bone and skull, were found by a hospital employee in Hemphill, Texas. Local police have confirmed the findings now.

In addition, an astronaut's patch and a flight helmet were also recovered in this area.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has appointed a commission to carry out investigation into the accident.

Space shuttle Columbia disintegrated on Saturday morning with acrew of seven, including the first Israeli astronaut, soon after the beginning of landing maneuvers.

The oldest US spacecraft was expected to land at 1416 GMT at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral of Florida in the southeast of the United States.
