Audi A4 to Be Produced in NE China City

The FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Company Ltd. is gearing up to produce the Audi A4 in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province, following a year of preparations.

The FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Company Ltd. is gearing up to produce the Audi A4 in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province, following a year of preparations.

The locally-produced model will make its debut in Shanghai thisApril with an annual production volume of 30,000 units.

A total of 36,500 Audi units were sold in China last year, and the sales volume is expected to see double-digit growth this year,according to Erich Schmitt, Volkswagen's China head. The Audi A4 will be produced in China to meet the country's growing demand forluxury cars.

The Audi A4 first entered the Chinese market in November 2001.

The Changchun-based FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Company Ltd. was jointly set up by the FAW Car Company Limited, Volkswagenwerk AG and Audi with an investment of 11.13 billion yuan (1.34 billion USdollars). Its main products include Jettas, Audis and Boras.
