Chinese Naval Delegation Visits Mexico

A naval delegation from the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China has begun a visit to Mexico at the invitation of Mexican Navy Minister Antonio Perot.

A naval delegation from the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China has begun a visit to Mexico at the invitation of Mexican Navy Minister Antonio Perot.

The six-member delegation, headed by Admiral Yang Huaiqing, arrived in Mexico City on Sunday and was welcomed with a ceremony in the facilities of the Navy Ministry.

Li Zhenchun, military attach�� of the Chinese Embassy in Mexico, told Xinhua that Yang and Perot met on Monday morning to talk about bilateral exchanges and the traditional friendship between the two countries and their armed forces.

The two agreed to strengthen cooperation in the future.

During their meeting, Perot accepted Yang's invitation to visit China, Li said.

The delegation was to go on to the coastal city of Veracruz to visit the Mexican Naval Academy and the fleet for the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean.
