Shanghai Aviation Industrial Corporation (SAIC) and Xi'an Aircraft Company (XAC) delivered the 300th sets of horizontal stabilizer and vertical fins for Boeing 737 respectively to Boeing recently.

The deliveries marked another historic milestone in Boeing's cooperation with the Chinese aviation industry.

As of March 2003, Boeing had delivered 4,420 737s to 217 customers around the world.

SAIC delivered its first ship set of horizontal stabilizers to Boeing in 1999, while XAC delivered its first ship set of vertical fins to Boeing in 1998.

There are now over 3,200 Boeing airplanes flying worldwide that include major parts and assemblies built by China, equal to over a quarter of all Boeing airplanes in service worldwide. China operates 253 Boeing 737s.

Boeing also works with Chinese airplane factories in Chengdu, Shenyang and Xi'an.

Industrial cooperation between Boeing and China began in the mid-1970s. For more than 30 years, teams of Boeing manufacturing, quality and planning experts have lived in China providing on-site training in building Boeing parts and assemblies.

The emphasis is on training to world-class standards to ensure safe, reliable, high quality assemblies at competitive prices.

"Boeing's cooperation with China's aviation industry has achieved remarkable accomplishments," said Boeing China president David Wang.

"SAIC, XAC and other airplane factories are all major manufacturing sites in China for Boeing airplanes. Today, China's aviation manufacturing companies are playing key roles in Boeing's global supplier network."
