Chinese FM Talks with Sudanese Counterpart over Phone

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing Friday exchanged views over phone about China's SARS situation with his Sudanese counterpart Awadh Ahmed Al-gaz.

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing Friday exchanged views over phone about China's SARS situation with his Sudanese counterpart Awadh Ahmed Al-gaz.

Awadh, Sudanese acting foreign minister and minister of energy and mining, said the Chinese people are making an all-out effort to battle severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), and have made remarkable achievements.

The Sudanese government and people believe the Chinese people, led by the Chinese government, will surely conquer such the disaster, said Awadh, who also sent his regards to Chinese oil workers.

Sudan-China relations are progressing well, and Sudan is willing to enhance cooperation with China in energy and other fields, he said, reiterating that the Sudanese government will stick to one-China policy.

Support from Sudan is of great encouragement for the Chinese people in their fight against SARS, said Li, noting the Chinese government and people value good cooperative relations with Sudan.

China will continue to work on all-round bilateral cooperation on the basis of mutual benefit, said Li, expressing thanks for Sudan's support on Taiwan and other issues.
