Chinese Special Envoy on Mideast Arrives in Israel

China's Mideast special envoy Wang Shijie has arrived in Israel for a four-day visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories in an effort to help stop the violence and promote the resumption of peace talks.

China's Mideast special envoy Wang Shijie has arrived in Israel for a four-day visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories in an effort to help stop the violence and promote the resumption of peace talks.

Upon his arrival, Wang Shijie said during his visit he will meet with government officials from both sides on the resumption of the Middle East peace process.

The envoy said his visit is part of China's efforts to contribute to peace in the region, and is also an expression of the Chinese government's concern about the situation.

This is Wang Shijie's second visit since he was appointed Chinese special envoy on the Middle East issue.
