Guangzhou No.2 Subway Line Opens to Traffic
The No.2 subway line in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, opened to traffic on Saturday.

Province, opened to traffic on Saturday.
The subway starts from
Jiangxi
a in the north and terminates at Bazhou in the south with a total length of 23 km, with 20 stops. The section in operation Saturday comprises 16 stops with a length of 18.28 km. The remaining four stops will be built after the Baiyun International Airport moves to the new site.
Construction of the whole line is estimated to cost an investment of 11.309 billion yuan (1.36 billion US dollars). An official in charge of the project predicted that the total investment for the section now in use will likely be kept below 9.5 billion yuan instead of planned 10.608 billion yuan.
Operation of the No.2 subway line forms a crisscross subway network in Guangzhou. According a citywide fast speed traffic plan,Guangzhou will build 15 track lines with a total length of 555 km,said Lu Guanglin, general manager of Guangzhou Subway Company.
