Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated the firm stance that his country will not bend to the despotic power of terrorism, the Interfax news agency reported Monday.

"I will stress once again that no country in the world bows to the dictate of terrorists, and Russia will not do it either," Putin made the remarks two days after the catastrophic blasts that killed 13 innocent spectators and injured over 50 at an out-door rock concert in suburban Moscow on Saturday.

Russia blames the terrorist explosions on Chechen rebels.

Once Russia bows to the terrorists, it would mean "the beginning of the disintegration of the country, and then the number of victims would increase exponentially," the president was quoted as saying.

The Russian leader pointed out that the rebels operating in Chechnya have become an integral, maybe the most dangerous part ofthe international terror web, not simply connected with international terrorist organizations.

The president called for intensification of joint efforts to ensure the extradition of extremists entering Russia to conduct terrorist acts.

Putin urged eradication of international terrorists instead of just taking preventive measures against them.

However, resolute actions "must be precisely targeted and selective," he stressed.

"We must not yield to provocation of the terrorists. That is what they want. They expect our actions to be unprofessional, harmthe civilians and avert them from the peace processes that have started in Chechnya. We cannot allow that to happen."

Putin stressed the need to provide assistance to those who were hurt in the terrorist explosion on Saturday and provide moral and financial support to the relatives of the victims.

The Russian president on Sunday cancelled his planned visits to Uzbekistan and Malaysia due to the Saturday terrorist bombings in Moscow.
