China Hopes to Promote Cooperation with Boeing

Chinese Vice-Premier Zeng Peiyan on Thursday urged US-based aviation giant Boeing to adopt a far-reaching vision in increasing the level and standard of cooperation with China.

Chinese Vice-Premier Zeng Peiyan on Thursday urged US-based aviation giant Boeing to adopt a far-reaching vision in increasing the level and standard of cooperation with China.

During a meeting with Philip Condit, chairman and chief executive officer of Boeing Company, Zeng said the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) crisis had a certain impact on China'scivil aviation industry, but the aviation sector would recover soon as the economy was growing rapidly.

Zeng said the civil aviation market of China would continue to expand and that China valued cooperation with international aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing Company.

Condit said Boeing was committed to long-term growth in China. The company was willing to expand technical transfers to China andwiden cooperation in research, development and aircraft manufacturing.
