Former Taliban Commander Killed in Pakistan

Some unidentified armed men Thursday gunned down a former Taliban commander and managed to escape from the scene in west Pakistan city Quetta, the local newsagency News Network International reported here.

Some unidentified armed men Thursday gunned down a former Taliban commander and managed to escape from the scene in west Pakistan city Quetta, the local newsagency News Network International reported here.

According to the report, former Taliban commander Zainuddin wasshot dead when some unidentified assailants sprayed bullets while he was going to mosque for fajjar prayer.

He was killed on the spot as he received eight bullets in his chest. The cause of killing and the identity of attackers were notknown.

The former Taliban leader, aged 45, resided in Quetta city after the fall of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. Some of the bullets also hit the minarets of the mosques and prayers sought refuge in the nearby buildings.

The awe and terror prevailed in the area as the law and order situation in the city is not good after the July 4 Quetta mosque incident.
