Chinese Divers Win Women's 3m Springboard Synchro Gold

China's defending champions Guo Jingjing and Wu Minxia retained their title in the women's three-meter springboard synchronized diving event at the 10th FINA World championships on Sunday.

China's defending champions Guo Jingjing and Wu Minxia retained their title in the women's three-meter springboard synchronized diving event at the 10th FINA World championships on Sunday.

Guo, 17, winner of the 3m springboard event both in the last world championships in Fukuoka, Japan and here on Friday, and Wu, the bronze-medalist for 3m event here, entered the final as the top qualifiers with a preliminary total of 309.00 points. They led throughout the five-dive final and won the title with a total score of 357.30 points.

Russian pair Julia Pakhalina, silver-medalist for the 3m event here on Friday, and Vera Ilyina took the silver with an aggregated score of 321.24 and Mexicans Paola Espinosa and Laura Sanchez were ranked third with 299.64.
