Chinese center Yao Ming suffered a minor injury to his eyebrow and was expected to rest for a week, local media said on Tuesday.

The 7-foot-6 (2.28-meter) center, who has joined the national team to prepare for the upcoming Asian basketball championship, broke his eyebrow during training on Tuesday.

With an eight-needle suture, Yao will miss the next four warm-ups against the visiting NBA All-Star squad.

Yao is the first top-picked Asian in the NBA draft, also the first rookie to start an NBA All-Star game since Grant Hill in 1995.
