Islamic resistance movement Hamas and Islamic Jihad on Sunday denounced Israel's decision to release 100 of their members as "misleading the public opinion," saying they want the prompt release of all Palestinian prisoners.

"This is an old Israeli trick. They only intend to release thosewho were detained under administrative detention or members of the movements who were kept as hostages inside the jails," Islamic Jihad representative Mohamad Al-Hindi said.

"We have agreed on the Hudna (truce) in exchange for releasing the political prisoners from Israeli jails in accordance with a specific timetable set by the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Ministry of Prisoner Affairs, not according to the Israeli criteria," he added.

Senior Hamas representative Abdel Aziz Al-Rantisi said, "In 1991, when Isaac Shamir was Israeli premier, Israel released 1100 Palestinian prisoners from its jails. But what was announced today is only a deception."

"Israel pretends to implement initiatives of good intentions by saying that it would release our prisoners, but they only release administrative detainees or prisoners whose sentences had already expired," Al-Rantisi said.

Meanwhile, PNA Information Minister Nabil Amer described the Israel's decision to release 100 Hamas and Islamic Jihad prisoners as a "positive gesture" and said "we hope that Israel would releasemore of our prisoners from its jails."

Amer called for cooperation between Israel and the PNA Ministry of Prisoner Affairs until all the prisoners detained in Israeli jails and detention camps are freed.

Asked about Israel's removal on Sunday of two military roadblocks established near the West Bank city of Ramallah, Amer said "Israel was supposed to remove a bigger number of these roadblocks. We hope the remaining roadblocks would be evacuated soon."
