More Relief Funds Sent to Earthquake-hit Areas in Inner Mongolia
The Financial Bureau of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, north China, on Thursday added 30 million yuan (approximately 3.62 million US dollars) to the disaster relief fund for reconstruction in Chifeng city, where two counties had jolted by an earthquake last Saturday.

The city has also received 10.8 million yuan (1.3 million US dollars) from the Chinese Ministry of Finance, plus 6.5 million yuan (about 783,133 US dollars) in donations.
An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale hit Bairin Left Banner and Ar Horqin Banner on Aug. 16, claiming three lives and injuring over 1,000 local residents, of whom 54 are in critical condition.
The quake, believed to be the most devastating in the past 700 years in Bairin Left Banner and Ar Horqin Banner, also damaged more than 91,000 houses, leaving 115,000 people homeless, according to sources from Chifeng city government, which exercises judicial administration over the two counties.
