DPRK Embassy Marks 55th Anniversary of the Country's Founding

The embassy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in China held a banquet here Monday to mark the country's 55th founding anniversary.

The embassy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in China held a banquet here Monday to mark the country's 55th founding anniversary.

Uyunqimg, vice-chairwoman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress attended the banquet and delivered a speech.

Under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea headed by Kim Jong Il, the DPRK people are making new achievements in building a strong country, developing foreign relations and realizing self-determination and peaceful unification, said Uyunqimg.

She congratulated the DPRK on its election of new leaders at the first session of the 11th Supreme People's Assembly, which was concluded several days ago.

She said the traditional friendship between China and the DPRK had experienced various tribulations throughout history and achieved further progress in the new century.

She said China and the DPRK had worked together well at the Beijing six-party talks recently. The Communist Party of China and the Chinese government cherish the friendship with the DPRK and will continue making efforts to further strengthen and the improve China-DPRK friendship.

Choe Jin Su, DPRK ambassador to China, said the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government value, as always, the friendship with China.

He expressed his belief that DPRK-China friendly and cooperative relations would be further developed with the joint efforts of leaders and the peoples of both countries.
