China's religious delegation leaves for world religion congress

A 17-member Chinese religious delegation left Friday from Urumqi for Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, to attend a world religious congress to be held from Sept. 22 to 24.

A 17-member Chinese religious delegation left Friday from Urumqi for Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, to attend a world religious congress to be held from Sept. 22 to 24.

The world religious congress was proposed by the president of Kazakhstan and 18 religious delegations will attend the congress, including the Buddhist Association of China and the Taoist Association of China.

The convening of the congress aims to promote the communication between different religions of different countries, to maintain the harmony amid different religions and to make religious power play a more important role in safeguarding world peace and stability.

Jamyang Losang Jigme Tubdain Qoigyi Nyima, the head of the Chinese religious delegation and also vice director of the Buddhist Association of China, said on behalf of China's more than100 million religious people, the Chinese religious delegation will show their great care for humankind's peace course.

Hopefully, the friendship between the Chinese religious sector and its counterpart in Kazakhstan will be deepen, he added.
