Shanghai GM reports soaring sales of Buicks

Shanghai General Motors Corp., a Sino-US joint venture, reported a 62.5 percent surge in the sales of its Buick cars during the first three quarters of 2003.

Shanghai General Motors Corp., a Sino-US joint venture, reported a 62.5 percent surge in the sales of its Buick cars during the first three quarters of 2003.

Shanghai GM sold 132,940 cars during this period, claiming a 9.2 percent share of the Chinese car market.

The Excelle, a new model, attracted throngs of buyers. Since its debut in late August, over 7,500 had been sold.
