Senior CPC official pledges to promote Sino-Peruvian ties

Jia Qinglin, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), pledged on Tuesday to develop friendship with Peru to further improve bilateral ties.

Jia Qinglin, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), pledged on Tuesday to develop friendship with Peru to further improve bilateral ties.

Jia, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureauof the CPC Central Committee, had a meeting with Alan Garcia Perez,president of the American Popular Revolutionary Alliance (APRA), one of the major political parties in Peru.

Jia said Peru, one of the first countries in Latin America to forge diplomatic ties with China, had witnessed successful exchanges and cooperation with China.

Jia, also chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), noted that China and Peru, both developing nations, shared the same task of developing their economies.

The CPC attached importance to the growth of relations with allmajor Peruvian political parties, he acknowledged, voicing the hope that such ties would promote the growth of state-to-state relations.

Alan Garcia Perez, former Peruvian president, said he was deeply impressed with China's amazing development since his previous visit 20 years ago and commended the CPC for leading China's modernization drive.

Moreover, Alan Garcia Perez said that his party was ready to enhance inter-party relations with the CPC and become a bridge of cooperation between China and Peru and Latin America.
