Georgia's new president to visit US
Georgia's newly elected president Mikhail Saakashvili will pay an official visit to the United States on February 25 at the invitation of the Bush administration,US Secretary of State Colin Powell said in Georgia's capital of Tbilisi, Russian news agencies reported.

Powell, who arrived in Tbilisi to attend Saakashvili's inauguration, told a press conference following one-on-one talks with Saaksshvili that the United States will continue to provide Georgia with aid.
He said that the United States will go on supporting Georgia incarrying out reforms, in fighting corruption and successful passing of transitional period,
This year, Washington will extend Georgia 166 million US dollars in aid, according to Powell.
Powell also said that Georgia should not become an area of competition between the United States and Russia.
"Georgia... should serve as an example for other countries of how democracy should be built and how reforms should be carried through to the end," Powell noted.
He urged Russia to fulfill the 1999 Istanbul agreements to withdraw its military bases from the former Soviet republic.
