Pakistan, as a sovereign country, would take all nuclear proliferation related decisions by itself, said Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan on Feb. 7.

Talking to a local television, Masood said Pakistan was already cooperating with the international community on the nuclear proliferation issue.

Pakistan was a responsible country and the international community welcomed Pakistan's initiation for launching investigations into the nuclear proliferation allegations, the spokesman said.

International black market posed danger to the world community and collective efforts were needed to eradicate the menace of proliferation of nuclear weapons, he added.

Pakistan's top priority was to safeguard its nuclear assets, Masood said.

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf Thursday pardoned the country's top nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan, who had accepted full responsibility for leaking nuclear secrets to other countries.
