The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) warned on Sunday that the continuous Israeli military siege on Yasser Arafat would lead to further deterioration in the region.

"The continuous siege imposed on President Arafat is complicating the situation and making the resumption of peace negotiations very hard," Palestinian Labor Minister Ghassan Al-Khatib stated.

He added that the PNA is making various contacts with Arab and European countries as well as the Unite States in order to brief them on the seriousness and danger implied by the siege on Arafat.

"The Israeli escalations are still underway, such as tightening the siege imposed on President Arafat as well as the ongoing construction of the Israeli separation wall in addition to the targeted killings and assassination carried out against Palestinians," he said.

The Palestinian minister declared that these Israeli military escalations reveal the confusion within the Israeli government and they would only deepen the conflict.
