China has recently shipped a 900 megavolt ampere (MVA) transformer to the United States, marking the country's first such export to a developed country.
The transformer, made by the Tebian Electric Shenyang Transformer Group, will be used for connecting the California power grid and the hydropower grid in Los Angeles, Friday's China Daily reported.
Tebian Electric beat out several rivals of international big names, including Hyundai from the Republic of Korea (ROK), Japan's Mitsubishi and Switzerland's ABB, to win the deal.
The company said it is preparing for two other bids for supplying power equipment to the United States. Currently, it has exported products to over 60 countries and regions.
Following the massive blackout last year, the United States is pouring huge investment in upgrading its power equipment. Experts say the investment may have exceeded 100 billion US dollars duringthe past year.
