A large Chinese character museum will be built in the city of Anyang, central China's Henan province, said Jin Suidong, CPC secretary of the municipal committee.
Covering over eight hectares, the museum will house a large collection of archaeological pieces and pictures of traditional Chinese character patterns, including inscriptions on oracle bonesand ancient bronzes, seal characters and chancery scripts.
The museum will also display characters of ancient Chinese nationalities like Khitan, Chiang and Nuchen.
The museum was expected to boost the exploitation and utilization of Anyang's archaeological resources, suiting both refined and popular tastes, said Jin.
Hopefully the museum would become a window for the world to learn traditional Chinese characters, and would help promote the protection and study of Chinese history, Jin said.
An investment of 300 million yuan (about 36.3 million US dollars) will go to the project.
Anyang is one of seven ancient capitals, where the world famousoracle bone inscriptions were first discovered in 1899.
